hi
chemtrac - how it works

Why is The REACH Centre providing this service?

Our client work and expertise means that we keep up to date on developments in the field of chemicals management, particularly as they affect the EU. We are therefore in an ideal position to share the tools that we’ve found useful with other clients.

How do I know how up to date the information is online?

We guarantee a maximum of 3 working days to update information relating to Registry of Intentions, SVHC Candidate List and Annex XIV (Authorisation) and monthly checks across a wide range of other lists.

Is the chemtrac® system secure?

Yes. The database is stored on servers based in the UK and your log in details are encrypted using industry-standard encryption.

Which lists and systems are included in chemtrac®?

The following lists were used to draw up a database:

  • ECHA List of REACH Registered substances
  • REACH Candidate List and ROI, Annex XIV (Authorisation List) and proposed substances for Authorisation
  • REACH Annex XVII (Restrictions) and proposed new Restrictions
  • RoHS, Water Framework Directive (WFD), Stockholm Convention (POPs), End of Life Vehicle Directive (ELV)
  • SIN List (ChemSec)
  • Trade Union Priority List (ETUC)
  • Member State priority list (CARACAL; note: this list is not official so only indication of possible inclusion on list given)
  • Selected industry and company-specific lists

In addition, we have added the following information for substances in the database:

  • Harmonized classification according to Annex VI of CLP for all applicable substances
  • Common uses of all SVHCs (Candidate List, ROI), as well as substances included on NGO lists and selected other substances (about 750 substances in total)

How does it integrate into my other systems?

Current clients and those who have piloted chemtrac® have used it alongside their ERP software, such as SAP, and their Bill of Materials systems. chemtrac® stands alone as a reliable reference to all the information you need to track the chemicals of concern for your business.

How many people in my business can use the subscription?

This depends on the platform that you choose (see Costs). The free 7-day trial allows one Owner/User but ongoing subscriptions offer more options.

What is the minimum subscription duration?

After the free 7-day trial, you can commit to chemtrac® on a monthly basis (paying each month) with no additional commitment.

How do I pay?

You pay online by entering your credit or debit card details into our secure payment page.

Is there any way that I can pay on an annual basis?

If you are interested in discussing alternative payment options with us, we may be able to help in specific circumstances. Complete our contact form to find out more.

How much notice do I have to give of ending my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription (or upgrade your platform to increase the number of users) at a month’s notice.

Can I alter or adapt the system in house for our use?

The Core version of chemtrac® does not allow this but we are working on an Exclusive version that can be edited to include your own data and lists. This version is due to be launched in the autumn 2011.

Is there any training available in use of the system?

There is a comprehensive HELP function within chemtrac® that includes drop down details of each field and a summary Help document online. You can also email our team members for help during your free trial or subscription period.

If you would like us to provide face-to-face training in chemtrac®for a group of users in your organisation then this can be arranged. The REACH Centre is an experienced training provider and can offer a flexible approach to such training.

Does chemtrac® work reliably with all web browser software?

We have tested chemtrac with all major modern browsers - Internet Explorer version 7 and above, Firefox version 3 and above, Chrome and Safari. We can be confident that it works effectively with all of these. For maximum compatibility, security and performance, you should always use the most up-to-date browser software available.

What future developments are you planning for chemtrac®?

We will be launching an Exclusive version later in 2011, enabling subscribers to edit chemtrac® to create their own company-specific lists and add company information relating to individual substances.

Once the Exclusive version is established, we will offer a Dialogue version which will enable subscribers to link suppliers into their chemtrac® system. They will be able to create and manage supplier declarations against company-specific lists and thresholds, a huge potential saving of time and resources for subscribers as well as being simple, consistent and traceable.

Which organisations are already using the system?

chemtrac® is already in use with major manufacturers (who are using chemicals and whose suppliers are using chemicals), several national or international retailers and a number of smaller manufacturing companies.
